ROCKHURST 101
The Active Learning Classrooms
Active Learning Environments have been researched and proven to contribute to student engagement and achievement. At Rockhurst, classrooms throughout the building have started to transition into this new environment.
Active Learning Classrooms have the following features:
1.) Triangulated projection - for optimal student viewing. Students sitting at any spot in the room can view what the teacher is demonstrating. This also allows the teacher to move through out the room and not be tied to the front of the room.
2.) Flexible seating- seating that can be moved around to promote collaboration or separate out for testing environments.
3.) Dry erase surfaces- to help students work problems, plan, strategize, note take, respond, etc.
